The New Green Jack - what we stand for

New Green Jack - What we stand for, a green Britain!

Ecotricity Forest

As part of our environmental commitment, we planted a tree for our first 20,000 customers to create a beautiful new woodland near our wind turbine at Lynch Knoll in Gloucestershire.

4,000 trees are already in the groundThe Ecotricity Forest consists of mixed broadleaf woodland including 28% oak, 25% ash and 20% beech, along with assorted minor trees and woody shrubs for diversity, amenity and wildlife benefit. These include alder, field maple, birch, hornbeam, hazel, holly and dogwood.

Planting began at the beginning of December 2004 and by the New Year there were 20,000 saplings in the ground. Children from nearby Nailsworth primary school helped Ecotricity staff to plant some of the first trees. Thirteen members of the school's Wildlife Club aged 7 to 10, were happy to get stuck into the planting, despite the misty cold day.

Nailsworth School children get ready to begin plantingThe woodland is about half a mile from the Nailsworth school so the children will be able to visit regularly to keep an eye on their trees' progress.

Thanks to all our customers and tree planters for your support in creating this beautiful woodland
